Nude Watercolours by Gary Korlin

November 10, 2010

New from Gary Korlin – A series of watercolour washes where he captures the figure in a variety of poses. These works challenge the artists to capture gesture and volume of the human figure with a deft and confidant stroke because of the unforgiving nature of the medium.

“While painting in oil there is an attempt to capture the immediate essence of the subject, though, anything can be covered up or scraped off to start anew. By approaching from an opposite perspective (watercolour) not only is the artist’s ability tested, but it also lends a fresh spontaneous quality to all they do. This series of watercolours capture the roundness of form in an immediate and unforgiving application through direct observation with no prior drawing.” – Artist Gary Korlin
